On February 12, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam H.E. Chen Shaochun attended, upon invitation, the commissioning ceremony of Stage 1 of the SINAR (Sustainable and Integrated Natural Energy and Renewables) Project of Hengyi Industries Sdn. Bhd, together with Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development. Minister Dato Dr. Amin Liew and Minister Dato Juanda welcomed Ambassador Chen on his assumption of duty in Brunei. The two sides had friendly exchanges on deepening bilateral cooperation in various fields.Counselor Shi Rongke of China Embassy was also present.

With a total installed capacity of 50.64 megawatts, this project is the largest solar power facility completed in Brunei to date. Once fully operational, it is expected to meet about 7% of Hengyi’s electricity demand. This will not only help the enterprise reduce energy costs and significantly lower carbon emissions, but also accelerate Brunei’s energy transition and contribute to building a resilient, green and prosperous future for Brunei.
