Your Excellencies, Ambassadors and High Commissioners,

Dear compatriots, distinguished guests, friends from media,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good evening, everyone!

It is a great honor of mine to have Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna with us as Guest of Honor to the Night of Chinese Cultural Tourism sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the Embassy of China in Brunei. Tonight's event is also a part of the celebrations organized by the Chinese Embassy in Brunei for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Welcome everyone and thank you for your attendance.I also take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks for the strong support from Brunei-China Friendship Association to this event.

Wushu and Taiji are symbols of Chinese culture. They are traditional treasures of China and also a common wealth of mankind. According to the traditional Chinese philosophy, Yin and Yang, rapid and slow, hard and soft, dynamic and static, are interdependent and coexist in harmony. The performers for tonight are from the home town of Wushu and Taiji in China. The performance group has visited many countries worldwide. They have been widely welcomed. I thank them for coming all the way here to bring us this wonderful show.

Wushu and Taiji are not only the magic fantasy and special effects of Chinese Gongfu in movies, but also the daily life of the Chinese people. It is the elders’ morning exercise in the parks. It is the juniors’ energy and vitality in the training halls. Chinese Wushu is a symbol of strength, but the further meaning of Wushu emphasizes morality. According to the Chinese tradition, the real value of "force" lies in the pursuit of peace. Yin and Yang in the Chinese philosophy are the two elements of the universe, which are contradictory to each other but mutually unified at the same time. Taiji comes to the balance of Yin and Yang and harmony between body and mind through body movements, breathing in and out.

Wushu and Taiji originated from China but belong to the world. It is not only the means for people to build up their physical fitness, but also a way to meet friends with martial arts. It is also the pursuit of benevolence and harmony. Wushu and Taiji have long gone beyond China and enjoyed by people all over the world. I am pleased that Wushu and Taiji are also popular among the people in Brunei. Last month, Brunei successfully hosted the 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championships. The competition attracted athletes from 19 countries and regions. Under the guidance of the Chinese coaches, the Bruneian team won 4 golds , 2 silvers and 1 bronze medal.

China and Brunei facing each other across the sea, are good neighbors sharing a long history of exchanges and traditional friendship. The exchanges and cooperation between the two countries are getting stronger. A few weeks back, Her Royal Highness Princess Masnar visited Beijing, Nanjing and Hangzhou in China, which brought such relation even closer. Next year will be the year of Tourism of China and Brunei. We welcome more and more friends from Brunei to visit China and experience China’s beauty and culture.

In conclusion,I wish tonight's performance a complete success and wish everyone a pleasant night!

Thank you!
