On 11th February , the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brunei, together with Brunei-China Friendship Association and Chinese Enterprise Association in Brunei co-organized the China Day & Spring Festival Open House,H. E. Ambassador Xiao Jianguo,President of Brunei-China Friendship Association Dr. Mohamed Firdaus as well as President of Chinese Enterprise Association in Brunei Mr. Li Feng attended and delivered the speeches. Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei YB Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohamad, Minister of Development of Brunei YB Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Member of the Legislative Council of Brunei YB Awang Lau How Teck, Permanent Secretaries of Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei YM Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengrian Haji Mahmud and YM Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari,Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Finance and Economy of Brunei YM Mohammad Harris bin Brigadier Jeneral (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim,Acting Commander of Royal Brunei Navy Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin ,Acting Joint Force Commander of Brunei Col (U) Hismawadi bin Haji Mohammad,former Ambassador of Brunei to China Pehin Orang Kaya Leila Perkasa Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Mahdini bin Dato Paduka Haji Basir,and over 2,000 guests from governments,diplomatic corps,Chinese communities, schools and enterprises, voluntary teachers, international students as well as friends from all walks of life were present.
Ambassador Xiao sent warm regards of Spring Festival to all attendees and the Bruneian people, emphasized that Spring Festival is not only the most important Chinese festival, but also public holiday of Brunei and UN, reflecting the charming of Chinese culture as well as the concept of enhancing exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations enshrined in the Global Civilization Initiative.
Ambassador Xiao introduced the sound momentum of recovery for China’s economy and the Central Conference on Working Relating to Foreign Affairs of China,mentioning that China is confident and capable to achieve long-term stable development, and will hold high the banner of building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind and usher in a bright future of peace, security, prosperity and progress for the world. Ambassador Xiao also spoke highly of the development of China-Brunei relations, reiterated that the future of the two countries and the friendship between the peoples will be like the warm spring ,full of energy and vitality, and bringing infinite hope and beauty.
Ambassador Xiao and the honorable guests watched the traditional Chinese cultural and Wushu demonstrations, visited the exhibition booths of Chinese calligraphy, paper-cuttings, knots, cuisines as well as enterprises.
