The traditional friendship between China and Brunei has a time-honored history. The two countries are good neighbors linked by the sea, good friends with mutual trust, and good partners for common development. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1991, China and Brunei have continuously deepened political mutual trust, actively synergized development strategies, and achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation in various fields. The two countries have also maintained good coordination in international and regional affairs, set a fine example of equality and mutual benefit between countries of different sizes. In February 2025, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam paid a successful state visit to China, and reached an important consensus with President Xi Jinping on the building of a China-Brunei community with a shared future, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations.

The Embassy will, guided by the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further enhance the friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between the two countries and peoples, and continuously work for in-depth and practical results in the building of China-Brunei community with a shared future.
